Out and Wild Walking Weekender 1-3 Aug 2025.
Part of Out and Wild's Queer Connections Big August Weekender in Derbyshire
Overview
Make life long connections in fabulous Peak District scenery. Experienced lgbt+ women walk leaders. Choose from long and shorter walks across the weekend to suit. The Walking Weekender runs alongside the Creative Weekender- with evening socialising together for even more queer connections. Fully catered. singles and shared rooms (ensuite facilities the first to sell out) Our accommodation is located in a beautiful part of the Peak District and we are surrounded by ideal countryside for walking. We can explore the higher moorland areas and the deep dales for which this area is well known. On all walks we will be able to take our time to enjoy the views, the company and the feeling of being out in a wilder space than many of us are used to. On the Saturday we will run two walks. There will be a shorter, more relaxed pace 5-6 mile (8-10km) walk, and a longer walk of 10-11 miles (16-18km). On the Sunday we will also run two walks. There will be a shorter walk (4-5 miles) aiming to finish by around 12.30pm, ideal for those who need to leave at lunchtime to travel home. There will also be an all day walk covering 8-9 miles, aiming to be back at the centre by around 3pm.

At Out and Wild we are dog lovers and we also want to respect those not bringing dogs. The location is surrounded by fields, woodlands and paths so there is plenty of opportunity to take your dog out on beautiful walks direct from the door - with the usual respect of using dog poo bags.
The accommodation welcomes well behaved dogs around the building and gardens on leads with 2 exceptions:
No dogs in the dining area.
No dogs in the main hall workshop space as the creative weekender will be creating art works not suitable for dogs to be near.
A polite request that no dogs go on the furniture.
On the Friday and Saturday evenings we will be running c. 2 hour social activities for the combined creative and walking weekenders - designed for fun and forging connections. These will take place in the main hall and will not be suitable for dogs to attend. So dog owners wanting to spend this part of the weekend with their dogs can socialise in the lounge, sun lounge or other communal areas.
There is a limit to the amount of dogs we take on, so while we are not limiting the number of dogs you each choose bring, places will run out quickly.
There is no profit on dog places. This is the accommodation set cost including VAT for the weekend.
