Overview

What is the secret to healthy relationships? Join senior psychotherapist Miriam Grace and award-winning comedian and author Rosie Wilby for a transformative Friday-to-Sunday residential retreat. This weekend offers a dedicated, supportive space guided by two facilitators who bring extensive, unique experience to this question. Through a series of fun and creative exercises—alongside learning brand-new lesbian relationship theory and neuro-affirmative perspectives—you will be guided through the more raw and wobbly phases of personal growth. This journey gives you the confidence and skills to tackle everything from the complex psychology of merger to the art of letting go. Rooted in Miriam’s three decades of experience running intensive training, this retreat weaves in concepts from her upcoming book, Mid-Life Lesbian: The Coming Out Companion. The weekend also draws directly from Rosie’s extensive research into sexual attraction and her books The Breakup Monologues and Is Monogamy Dead? This unique collaboration brings together Miriam's clinical wisdom regarding later in life coming out and Rosie's investigative humour and historical insights into queer women’s culture and community, providing empathetic, resonant support and practical, "take-home" psychological tools to help you understand your personal threat system, communicate your needs, and build healthier connections. Expect a weekend of insights, shared laughter, and a highly skilled, non-judgmental space designed to help you and your relationships go as deep as they can. Miriam

Miriam

Miriam Grace has been a psychotherapist for three and a half decades, training, speaking and writing about therapy alongside a thriving practice with individuals, couples and groups. She now specialises in working with women in midlife – peri-menopause; menopause and post menopause. She is particularly known for her work with later in life lesbians and for furthering the psychological understanding of women’s sexuality and autonomy.  Her later in life lesbian research is the subject of her chapter in “Queering Gestalt Therapy” (Routledge)and a paper (“Fifty Shades of Misogyny”) presented at the European Conference of Gestalt psychotherapists. She perceives coming out later to be a frequently misunderstood process and brings compassion and psychological insight to this topic in her new book due to be published by JKPublishing / Hachette.

Rosie

Rosie

Rosie Wilby is an award-winning comedian, author and broadcaster often described as the ‘lesbian Louis Theroux’ for her quirkily humorous investigative books, shows and talks on the psychology of queer love and heartbreak. She has spent decades collaborating with psychologists, psychotherapists and anthropologists to demystify some of this scary ‘love stuff’ and to document real queer experience alongside the more dusty and dry heteronormative textbooks. Her second book The Breakup Monologues (which might be familiar to some who attended Out & Wild in 2022) is accompanied by a podcast of the same name, which has been nominated for two British Podcast Awards, and follows her debut Is Monogamy Dead?, which was longlisted for the Polari First Book Prize.

FAQs

YES! You get to be you in our spaces. Systemic barriers in our society and culture create imbalances of power and privilege. Out & Wild  stands against minority stress and discrimination in our spaces. We are deeply committed to creating an environment that supports inclusivity and respect for all people regardless of gender identity or expression, race, colour, neurotype, culture, religion, spiritual practice, age, socioeconomic status, perceived or actual sexual orientation, relationship status or configuration, national origin or physical and mental abilities.

YES! Our approach is explicitly relational - whatever your relationship dynamic, and however many partners are involved.

YES! Whether you are looking to rekindle a lost love (by working on your side of the street), attract your soul mate or finally fall in love with yourself with no plans to enter a relationship - this is the perfect time for you to focus only on You.

When we are IN a relationship, we have a built-in training ground to practice the implementation of new skills in a training like this. On the other hand, when IN a relationship, we are more frequently triggered as our attachment wounds are ignited - sometimes we are so badly triggered, that we can't actually do the work!

So there are pros and cons to every relational state when entering into this Training. As a single person (whether by circumstance or choice) with a desire to get better at relationships, primarily for you, and possibly for a future partnership, you are most welcome in the Intensive.

30% of those who attend Out & Wild Events come solo, and many then leave with friends for life. Out & Wild hosts will be  there to meet and greet all who attend and make sure you feel welcomed and included.

Yes, there are accessible rooms available, please email info@outandwild.co.uk for more details

We do not offer a refund policy, but you are able to resell your ticket if you are unable to attend.

You can get a train to nearby stations and then a bus or taxi. We will also promote the opportunity for car sharing. Full details of getting to the venue are here thenightingalecentre.org.uk/location.php
