Nature Walks with Jamie
Meet at reception - 2 hours walk
Overview
My name is Jamie (he/him). I'm a graduate ecologist & conservationist working on the Finding Nature’s Footprints project with the North Devon Coast National Landscape. I'm also a member of the queer and neurodivergent community. I love sharing my enthusiasm for the natural world to help others appreciate its incredible diversity of life, and I believe that, with the severity of threats that wildlife face today, it’s more important now than ever for people to learn about and care for nature. My work involves taking people out in the North Devon Coast National Landscape to teach them about the ecosystem, the amazing species within, and how they can get involved with protecting, recording, and restoring wildlife. My specialty, however, is invertebrate ecology; particularly insects, such as, butterflies, dragonflies, and beetles. I use my close-up macro photography to engage people with this vital and often overlooked aspect of the animal kingdom. One of my favourite things in the world is showing people creatures they had no idea existed and seeing them marvel while I explain about their role in the ecosystem!"
